lyrics
I closed my eyes and I ran like the wind
I had all my hair and perfect skin
I had the world on a string and what I hoped would be
A happy ending for me, oh no
I closed my eyes and I fell in love
Her kiss was the one I was dreaming of
I needed a check, it was in the mail
Is that the end of this tale?, oh no
Waking up under water, waking up under water
Waking up
Waking up under water, waking up under water
Waking up
I close my eyes and she's there for me
Our lucky number wins the lottery
I finish my book, turn in my masterpiece
Will wonders never cease?, oh no
Chorus
A cruel sea is leaking in
This fragile boat I'm sinking in
I need to dream again
I close my eyes and I close the deal
The world quakes when my power's revealed
Whenever I prayed the answer was "Yes!"
I never tasted death, oh no.

This album is gritty, raw, and real. I love the fact that you can write and sing songs of this reality, yet have a glimmer of hope that resonates throughout the album. My favorite is Resplendent. I'm guessing its setting is the 30's.Was it inspired by any particular work of art or reading? pnorberg
Psychedelia at its most fundamental, the new EP from pôt-pot is equal parts Velvet Underground, BJM, and hypnotic vibes. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 30, 2024
Re-live the rip-roaring, hooky-as-hell punk rock of The Hissyfits with this new collection, which compiles their first two cassettes. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 30, 2024

Bill has stated elsewhere that he considers this a Vigilantes album - but regardless of whether you see it that way or as a solo release, it feels like a triumphant return to form. (I think) it's his first full length album since "Permafrost" 6 years prior. And it's a doozy! The album could have been billed as "Bill Mallonee and Crazy Horse" and I wouldn't have questioned it for a moment! Terrific arrangements, excellent tones, catchy tunes, and always-thoughtful lyrics.
