about
I've been working on this one for over a year now. I consider it the cornerstone of the "books and authors" concept I'm developing for my solo project this year. I urge you to read G.K. Chesterton if you are unfamiliar. "The Everlasting Man," "Orthodoxy," "The Man Who Was Thursday," the list goes on and on... essential!

The Everlasting Man

I ran into Chesterton outside the bar one sultry summer day
Roly-poly, sweating, he was wrapped in woolen folds of gray
St. Francis stood beside him, here’s what they had to say
“Everlasting Man, we see that you’ve still got your chest”
“Spread the good news,” Francis grinned, then added “Sometimes words are best”
“I concur,” laughed G.K., (pipe in hand, he checked the watch pulled from his vest)
“Go on about your business so you can finally get some rest”
“Prayers and fasting
For what we’re asking
Since this is not a small request
Love the saved, love the damned,
Great and small,
Like you they’re all
The Everlasting Man
The Everlasting Man
The Everlasting Man
The Everlasting Man”
I found the man called Thursday in the corner alone, quietly drinking beer
Though I knew he wasn’t thirsty since he’s always seated here
His skin brushed bright ethereal as he whispered to me loud and clear
“Everlasting Man, I see that you’ve still got your chest”
Then he spilled his drink and with a wink said, “Let the owner clean this mess
While you go about your business since you understand it more or less
Run along now son though it’s been fun to have you as my guest
Prayers and fasting
For what I’m asking
Since this is not a small request
Love the save, love the damned
Like you and me
Each one you see's
The Everlasting Man
The Everlasting Man
The Everlasting Man
The Everlasting Man
I sighed and closed the book in a room filled with the cold of an endless winter’s day
Father leaned back in his wingback chair saying “Son, you seem so very far away”
His face was crowded with familiar faces, it was no surprise to hear him say
“Everlasting Man, I see that you’ve still got your chest
And to do what you must do my boy, you will need to leave the nest”
Rising to my feet I said, “Father I will do my best
Since this is more than business; it truly is a quest”
In father’s face I could clearly see
The one’s I’d met, this Trinity
Where three are one, and one is three
And to the saved, and to the damned
To the small and the great
I Am
The Everlasting Man
The Everlasting Man
The Everlasting Man…..
